 About the Tournament:

Kickball for a Cause is an annual adult, co-ed kickball tournament that promotes and raises funds for PUMP and other cool nonprofits in the area whose work focuses on PUMP's strategic priorities. Teams play in round-robin lightning games in the morning/early afternoon. Winners of each division advance to a single elimination tournament later in the day.

About the Causes:

This year, PUMP is partnering with four results focused, local nonprofit organizations whose work advances our strategic priorities:

Diversity & Inclusion:  The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh

The YWCA Greater Pittsburgh is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  They strengthen our community by creating and advancing opportunities for all women to seek equality and self-sufficiency. The YW opens windows of opportunity for women and their families through YW child care, housing, and health and wellness programs. They work to sustain struggling women in their journey toward economic stability – and help teach teenage girls it’s okay to excel in science, technology, engineering, and math!

Education & Employment: The Education Partnership

The Education Partnership is dedicated to addressing educational inequities by providing and enabling access to the tools and resources necessary to support teachers and enhance a student’s ability to learn and succeed.  By providing school supplies for a brighter future, their goal is to bridge the gap between what students have and what they need to succeed in the classroom.   Infrastructure & Connectivity: BikePGH

Bike Pittsburgh is transforming our streets and communities into vibrant, healthy places by making them safe and accessible for everyone to bike and walk. Pittsburgh's bright future is built on an active transportation network that safely connects people to professional, commercial, recreational, residential, and cultural destinations. With programs, events, and more, for 13 years Bike Pittsburgh has advocated for bikeways and walkways that will make riding a bike or walking easy, convenient and fun. Volunteers can sign up to lend a hand to BikePGH at Opportunities range from helping out in their office, to operating a bicycle valet at summer events, to engaging people in activities at OpenStreetsPGH.

Health & Wellness:  The Mario Lemieux Foundation
The Mario Lemieux Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities.  The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux.  In that year, Mario was enjoying the greatest season of his brilliant career and on pace to establish a new NHL scoring record. Then he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. After a successful battle with Hodgkin's, Mario is now 22 years cancer free and his experience led him to focus on ways to assist those not so fortunate. He devotes much of his time to raising funds to reach the ultimate goal: a cure for cancer.
