August 6th, 2016

Mellon Park
Beechwood Blvd at 5th Ave
Pittsburgh, PA 15206

Thank you to our 2016 Sponsors:

On August 6th, 2016, 620+ participants joined us for the 14th annual Kickball for a Cause for a day of kickball and fun! Teams played in round-robin lightening games in the morning/ early afternoon. Winners of each division advanced to a single elimination tournament later that day.

In addition to a great time, Kickball for a Cause promotes and raises funds for PUMP and Pittsburgh nonprofits whose work focuses on our strategic priorities. With the help of our participants, Kickball for a Cause has raised tens of thousands of dollars for important local organizations. The 2016 Causes are below and stay tuned for information about the 2017 tournament and Causes.

Get to know the 2016 Causes:

Diversity & Inclusion: Strong Women Strong Girls

Strong Women Strong Girls empowers girls to imagine a broader future through a curriculum grounded on female role models delivered by college women mentors, who are themselves mentored by professional women. Visit their website to learn more about Strong Women Strong Girl's mission and model.

Education & Employment: Orange Arrow

Orange Arrow is a non-profit organization whose mission is to coach young student athletes to aim for success off the field. Orange Arrow utilizes sports-themed programming to develop life and social skills in youth through off-the-field coaches who are current or former college or professional athletes. Visit their website to learn more about Orange Arrow and their volunteer opportunities.

Infrastructure and Connectivity: Friends of the Riverfront

Friends of the Riverfront (FOR) is responsible for the development and stewardship of the 24-mile Three Rivers Heritage Trail and works to increase awareness and engagement by building and maintaining the riverfront trails. They are strongly reliant on volunteers to help realize this goal. Visit their website to learn more about Friends of the Riverfront's mission and volunteer opportunities.

Health & Wellness: 412 Food Rescue

Food Rescue's mission is to respond to the disconnect between the fact that we waste 40% of our food while 1 in 6 goes hungry. They aim to address the disconnect in distribution—in supply and access—by rescuing food about to go to waste and directly distributing to organizations that serve communities in need. They are a rapid response organization with a reverse logistics model that utilizes technology to aggregate and match food donors and beneficiaries by mobilizing a dedicated truck and a community of volunteers to efficiently and cost-effectively transport food between locations. Visit their website to learn more about 412 Food Rescue's mission and volunteer opportunities.
