Advocacy + Public Policy Agenda Development Process
Share |

As part of our strategic plan, PUMP developed an advocacy and public policy agenda to guide our advocacy efforts relevant to the strategic priorities laid out in our 2014 strategic plan (Diversity & Inclusion, Education & Employment, Infrastructure & Connectivity, and Health & Wellness). The public policy agenda process identifed the top advocacy and public policy issues relevant to PUMP’s strategic priorities in order to engage, educate, and mobilize PUMP constituents to effect change. The multi-phase iterative process engaged hundreds of individuals at different moments to ensure that all viewpoints were heard and represented.

Process Timeline:

May 2016: invitation-only event to glean priorities from key partners working on strategic priorities

Aug-Sept 2016: processed responses and developed higher priorities from the established strategic framework, created questions to engage general public in the concepts that rose to the top of the lists at the partner event

Oct-Nov 2016: all call events and online surveys for general public to provide additional insight to further focus our priorities through interactive displays using creative thinking

Dec 2016: final online survey responses collected, processed responses and refined details with the assistance of key partner organizations to develop public policy agenda

May 2017: finalized advocacy and public policy agenda for approval by PUMP Board of Directors

August 2017: public release of the advocacy and public policy agenda

Promoting and/or attending the session(s) or participating in the online survey(s) is not in any way construed as endorsement for the final policy agenda, but we do hope that by including yourselves and your constituents in the process you will be excited by the resultant agenda and initiatives to make Pittsburgh the first choice for everyone to live, work and play.

The final agenda provides an opportunity to sign on as supporters of PUMP’s goals and initiatives to make Pittsburgh the first choice for everyone to live, work and play with equity as a central tenet.

Thank you to our longtime sponsor and supporter
