DESCRIPTION:Open Field’s PLAY4PURPOSE charity soccer tournament is a fun way for soccer players in Pittsburgh to make an impact in the lives of more than 1\,000 youth in PIttsburgh and West Africa. Open Field’s mission is to improve the lives and futures of youth through sport. They do this through programming that promotes life skills\, leadership\, health\, girls’ empowerment\, and peace through the global game of soccer. \nAbout the event: \nWhat: 7v7 co-ed adult soccer tournament \nWhen: Sat. Aug 7th (first games kick off at 9am) \nWhere: Schley Oval \nWho: anyone 18+ (competitive & friendly divisions) \nWhy: Have fun\, raise funds\, collect equipment\, and bring awareness to Open Field‘s Soccer for Social Impact programming that impacts more than 1\,500 youth in PIttsburgh and in Africa. \n  \nREGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW THROUGH JULY 6TH (Website says June 30th but we are extending one week). Team’s do not need a full roster to register – they just need to commit to the mission & fundraising goal ($1k between the team)

DESCRIPTION:Open Field and the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh invite you to join in a conversation about sport for social impact in honor of International Women’s Day 2021. This timely discussion will feature panelists from around the world sharing their perspectives on the benefits to learning leadership skills through sport for girls in the Global South\, specifically in Cameroon\, Africa. \nOver the course of an hour\, you will hear about efforts to train coaches to create space for girls’ voice\, why coaching the ‘whole player’ is essential for girls in sport\, and how leadership skills learned on the field are essential to careers in the public sector.
