SUMMARY:Pedestrian Safety Action Plan Lunch and Learn
DESCRIPTION:To kickoff the release and implementation of the Pedestrian Safety Action Plan\, the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) will be holding a “Lunch & Learn” event on Wednesday\, June 16th\, 2021 from noon to 1pm.This Plan was developed through a collaborative effort by the Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI)\, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)\, and a core group of local stakeholders. Based on a detailed analysis of local crash data\, it identifies a) critical pedestrian safety issues\, b) locations with a higher risk for pedestrian crashes\, c) specific actions that DOMI will undertake\, and d) metrics for monitoring performance over time. \n\nTopics to be discussed:\n\nBackground about the creation of the 2020 Pedestrian Safety Action Plan\nHighlights of the Plan’s initial findings\, vision\, and goals for the city\nContributions from community stakeholders and partners to the Plan\nCurrent pedestrian safety projects\, plans\, and programs\n\nGuest speakers will include: Cassandra Leopold\, Principal Planner for active transportation at DOMI\, Elissa Goughnour\, from VHB (an engineering and design firm) who led the drafting of the Plan\, Harriet Jackson\, DOMI’s Safe Routes to School project coordinator\, Zinna Scott\, a local resident and pedestrian advocate\, John Tague\, Jr. from the Pennsylvania Transportation Alliance\, and Craig Toocheck from the Port Authority of Allegheny County. \nTo register for this event\, please click here.
