DESCRIPTION:Steel Smiling is hosting the first annual Suicide Prevention Month Forum at 11 AM on Saturday\, September 22\, 2018\, at the Jeron X Grayson Community Center.\nJoin Pittsburgh leaders\, mental health professionals\, and community members to share conversations about suicide prevention with Steel Smiling. Mental and behavioral health providers will be on hand to highlight information about their services. \nA panel discussion will be hosted by Brian Burley\, author of YNGBLKPGH\, with the following trusted community voices: \n\nLeonard Hammonds II: Executive Director of the Hammonds Initiative\nSharice Nance: LCSW\, CCTP\, and award-winning author\nRicky Moody: MS\, CSOTP\, CCCJS\, CSAS\, and administrator of Pittsburgh Mercy’s Forensic Outpatient MH Unit\nTammy Thompson: President of T3 Consulting\, Inc. and Executive Director of Circles Greater Pittsburgh\nDevantae Butler: Motivational speaker and author\n\nChef Claudy M. Pierre and his team at Eminent Hospitality Solutions Company will provide the food. DJKB will curate music and artist CB Perry will do live paintings. SUMMARY:Mental Health Fist Aid Training (Adult Version) Session 1 of 2 | Steel Smiling
DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First Aid Training (Adult Version):\nSession 2 of 2 – May 10\, 2018\nJoin Steel Smiling for the 2nd event for Mental Health Awareness Month. The training is presented in participation with WareHouse Consulting\, the Jeron X. Grayson Community Center\, Pittsburgh Mercy\, Allegheny Health Choices\, Inc.\, Staunton Farm Foundation\, and the SW Pennsylvania Mental Health First Aid Collaborative. \nThis 8-hour training will be taught in 4-hour increments over 2 days. Participants must attend both days (May 8th and May 10th from 1-5 PM) to become certified. \nAfter completing the course\, participants will know how to apply the Mental Health First Aid plan in situations when someone is experiencing: \n\nPanic attacks\nSuicidal thoughts or behaviors\nNon-suicidal self-injury\nAcute psychosis (hallucinations or delusions)\nOverdose or withdrawal from alochol or druge use\nReaction to a traumatic event\n\nThe sessions will occur at the Jeron X. Grayson Community Center and pre-registration is required. They’ll be facilitated by Kellen Hill\, Program Administration of Prevention Services with Pittsburgh Mercy.
