Kickball for a Cause - 2017's Selection of Finalists

This year we worked hard to engage PUMP members and Kickball for a Cause participants (past, present and future!) in all aspects of our 2017 Kickball for a Cause event! We want to take a moment to thank everyone who nominated a cause and who voted for a cause. We appreciate you being a part of the process to build a fun, engaging and rewarding tournament experience.

The Winners and 2017 Causes are...

Allegheny CleanWays mission is to engage and empower people to eliminate illegal dumping and littering in Allegheny County. Illegal dumping and littering both degrade communities and our quality of life. Illegal dumping creates significant risks to public health and the environmental quality. Litter creates a sense of neglect, reducing property values and inviting property vandalism. Residents and businesses have the power to prevent and eliminate BOTH illegal dumping and litter.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our vision is that all children achieve success in life.

Thank you to all these organizations for being a part of the voting process!

These six organizations are doing wonderful things in Pittsburgh and we are so happy they were a part of the voting process to be a finalist for Kickball for a Cause this year.

Beverly's Birthdays believes in spreading birthday cheer 365 days a year and that every child, regardless of personal or financial circumstances deserves a special birthday.Children living in poverty often go without the everyday items we take for granted. Special milestones in their lives, like birthdays, are often overlooked because of their families’ personal and financial instabilities. Research indicates that these children are at greater risks for anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Overlooked birthdays only add to these children’s emotional and self-esteem issues. Beverly’s Birthdays enriches the lives of the children we serve by making sure they are remembered on their special day.

CCChampions (Connecting Children with Champions) helps kids with cancer by asking them, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Whatever that is -- a chef, video game designer, bookstore owner, athlete, etc. -- we find an inspirational role model who does just that, and can be there every step of the way to help kids overcome the social and developmental challenges of the disease.

Hosanna Industries program activities include home construction, repair, and rehabilitation for low-income persons living in deteriorating housing; vocational training for unskilled workers, particularly in construction trades; assistance in the development and start-up of small businesses by persons who lack the economic ability and expertise to do so without assistance; creation of job opportunities for unemployed persons; mobilization of relief workers to areas of disaster and poverty.

The NA exists to provide a holistic, college-preparatory education for students in grades 8-12 who come from families who demonstrate financial need. Our school is dedicated to developing the minds, bodies, and spirits of our students so that they might become fully productive members of our society. By so doing our students will break the cycle of generational poverty that has held them captive and deprived society of the full value of their lives.

PERSAD Center's mission is to improve the well-being of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning) communities, and the HIV/AIDS communities. We serve our target populations and their loved ones, cradle to grave, across western Pennsylvania, with service centers in Pittsburgh and Washington, PA.
