We had 139 people cast their votes for our Kickball for a Cause poll! We are so thrilled with the interest that the Causes garnered and truly wish that we could have partnered with all 8 awesome organizations! That being said,  we are thrilled with the two winners – HEARTH and The Women and Girls Foundation – and the connections we will make through this partnership.

Kickball for a Cause is meant to help our beneficiaries in a few ways. First, we will work on increasing visibility for the causes so they get to meet a new audience and share their missions and programming with our members and participants. Last year, Causes were able to recruit new volunteers, which is so cool because the exposure they receive helps them not just in the short term but in the long term through the ongoing impact volunteers make. Second, they are able to receive a check for unrestricted funding. For those of you who aren’t familiar with nonprofits, this is pivotal for supporting the work we do. And lastly, we all get the chance to engage with the Causes! The tournament provides unique experiences to interact and dive deeper into the work of our partners and get to know them better.

Kickball for a Cause is more than a kickball tournament. It is more than a fun day of beer and food with your teammates, opponents and friends. It is an opportunity to connect with the work of programs that are impacting the communities and City we live in. It can be as interactive as you want it, but it’s hard to ignore the opportunities we give you to connect and we hope that you take full advantage of the experience.

We at PUMP want to thank Beverly’s Birthdays, Center of Life, The Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, North Side Christian Health Center, The Will Allen Foundation, and The Young Men and Women’s African Heritage Association for being a part of the voting process. We are thrilled to have gotten to know you better and offer a chance for our members to learn more about you and your work.

We will continue to plan Kickball for a Cause and look forward to another great tournament this year! Registration will open on Tuesday June 26th at Noon – so mark your calendars and stay tuned for more announcements on how you can get involved! In the meantime, here are some other ways stay connected.
