Each month we are going to take the time to get to know one of our PSL officials better. This is a great way to know the person who dedicates their free time to umpiring or refereeing your games.

Our August PSL Official of the Month is Tom! Get to know Tom better and be sure to say hi to him at your next PSL game.

How long have you been officiating with the PSL? Started officiating basketball in 2003.

Which sport(s) do you officiate? Flag Football, Softball and Kickball.

What is your favorite PSL officiating memory? Officiating the Randy Pausch Memorial Flag Football Tournament. Having to deal with the loss of a child in which everyone was so kind and extremely supportive of me and my family, I always want to support others in difficult times.

What do you do for a living? I am a Civil Engineer.

Why did you decide to officiate with the PSL? I’m a certified sports official and thought I would like to try officiating some recreational sports.  I enjoy the players. Everyone is really friendly (occasionally they don’t agree with my calls. Imagine that!).

Anything you’d like to share about yourself with the PSL community?  I enjoy spending my free time with my family and I’m a big Pittsburgh Pirates fan!
