Special Opportunity for Artists and Lighting Designers – Pittsburgh’s 200th Anniversary

PUMP Author General

To celebrate the City of Pittsburgh’s 200th Anniversary, the Bicentennial Committee is looking for lighting designers and artists to create a temporary lighting installation of Pittsburgh’s sister bridges for Light Up Night 2016 (November 18, 2016).

This year’s celebrations will honor the 200 years that have past, and highlight the changes that we must make for future generations. Artists and designers will be selected based on previous experience, and the installation must last at least 6 weeks and up to one year. The sister bridges mentioned above are the bridges along the Allegheny River between the 6th Street Bridge and the Convention Center. The fireworks finale will be at the Allegheny River next to the temporary installation of lights, but festivities during the day will be held around the Rachel Carson Bridge and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center as part of the National League of Cities Conference.
