Each month we are going to take the time to get to know one of our PSL officials better. This is a great way to know the person who dedicates their free time to umpiring or refereeing your games.
Our June PSL Official of the Month is Brandon! Not only does Brandon officiate but he is also our PSL photographer! Get to know Brandon better and be sure to say hi to him at your next PSL game.
How long have you been officiating with the PSL? I’ve been with PSL for three years now.
Which sport(s) do you officiate? I umpire softball.
What is your favorite PSL officiating memory? I would say all the different types of people that I have been lucky to meet! All the friends that I have made and all the inside joke that have come from them. But honestly. nothing beats ringing up a more than confident batter when he swings and misses on strike three.
What do you do for a living? I work as a web developer for the best baby company in the country, 4moms!
Why did you decide to officiate with the PSL? I love being on the ball diamond and meeting new people! It’s also a great way to earn some good money and have a great time doing it!

You are also now taking professional photographs for the PSL. Tell us more about how you got into that. It started in college about six years ago and my roommate at the time got me into it. At first, it was just a hobby but for the past three years, I’ve been putting a lot of time and money into growing my skills. My future aspirations is to shoot professional sports someday!
What are your photography interests and/or your favorite things to photograph? I love shooting sports! I love playing them, so it makes it easy and enjoyable to photograph! Outside of sports, I love shooting with the Pittsburgh Steeline! Such an amazing and very talented group of people, not to mention it’s always a party with these guys!
