Each month we take the time to get to know one of our PSL officials better. This is a great way to know the person who dedicates their free time to umpiring or refereeing your games.

Our January PSL Official of the Month is Brandon! Get to know Brandon better and be sure to say hi to him next time you see him!

How long have you been officiating in PSL?: 4 Months

Which sport(s) do you officiate?: Dodgeball

What is your favorite PSL officiating memory?: I wouldn’t call this memory “my favorite” but it is the most memorable. During one of the games at Allegheny Branch YMCA, the ceiling sounded like it was going to come down. Paint and debris was falling on the court after each rumble and crash. Found out that it was coming from a CrossFit class. I do Crossfit regularly so I knew what was going on but I just thought “whose bright idea was it to put Crossfitters on that floor (or any floor besides ground level)?”

What do you do for a living?: Work for Bettis Laboratory as a mechanical engineer.

Why did you decide to officiate with the PSL?: Dodgeball is one of my favorite sports to play and watch. Officiating gives me that opportunity to be a part of the game and watch great games and fantastic teamwork.

Anything you’d like to share about yourself with the PSL community?: I’m originally for Houston, Texas. I moved to Pittsburgh in Spring 2017 for my current job and I’ve really enjoyed living here.
