PublicSource’s Climate Change Project – Three Rivers Rising

PublicSource closed out 2017 by launching a journalistic project on climate change in Pittsburgh called Three Rivers Rising. The project is an exploration of how climate change “is and will be changing Pittsburgh.”

One of the project goals is to examine the city of Pittsburgh’s Climate Action Plan – and what it would take to reach the goals outlined in the plan. PublicSource reporter Oliver Morrison notes that Jason Beery of the UrbanKind Institute views Pittsburgh’s Climate Action Plan as not a plan, but “a list of goals and a survey of possible actions.” On January 10, 2018, PublicSource interviewed Pittsburgh’s Chief Resilience Officer, Grant Ervin on Facebook Live. They discussed the city’s efforts to combat climate change and to answer questions submitted by the public.

The Three Rivers project also features articles on increased electric vehicle use throughout Pittsburgh, the environmental benefits of not eating meat, and more.
