Draw the Lines PA Spring 2019 Competition

Draw the Lines PA’s SECOND statewide mapping competition is underway! This is an opportunity for individuals to create district maps for Pennsylvania to present as viable alternatives to the existing, gerrymandered district maps.

The goal of the Spring 2019 competition is to “Create a valid map of Pennsylvania dividing the state into 17 congressional districts using the free DistrictBuilder software platform (web-based). Why 17? Because that’s how many districts Pennsylvania is likely to have in 2021 after the 2020 Census.”

Drawing a map is a great way to learn more about how redistricting works and advocate for citizen-led redistricting in Pennsylvania to end partisan gerrymandering. Plus, you could win regional and statewide cash prizes.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM on May 31, 2019. Start mapping.

PUMP is a Draw the Lines PA Steering Committee Organization as well as an Endorsing Organization of Fair Districts PA. As part of our Advocacy + Public Policy Agenda, we support equitable legislative districts that fairly represent all voting populations.

We believe that voters should have the power to choose their representatives, not the other way around.
