2020 Census Civic Engagement Training: Children and Families

February 19, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

2020 Census Civic Engagement Training: Children and Families

Join GPNP and the Keystone Counts Coalition on February 19, 10 AM-12 PM at the LeMoyne Community Center for the second session in their series of 2020 Census and Civic Engagement trainings. The 2020 Census is a GPNP public policy priority, and the Keystone Counts Coalition is engaging nonprofits across the Commonwealth to Get Out the Count in 2020.

This session will focus on one of the most historically undercounted populations – children under the age of 18.

Approximately, one million children under the age of five were not included in the 2010 Census, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Programs like the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the National School Lunch Program, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rely on Census data for funding. Without an accurate count, these programs and others are underfunded and children are underserved.

This training is for organizations that work with children and their families. Register here.

At this training, GPNP and the Keysone Counts Coalition will:

  • Introduce you to the Keystone Counts Coalition, its Get Out the Count plan, and the resources and guidance it has to offer nonprofits
  • Solicit your feedback in guiding messaging and outreach strategies geared toward families with children
  • Allow you to collaborate, network, and share strategies with your peers

Location: The LeMoyne Community Center is located at 200 North Forest Avenue Washington, PA 15301
Parking is free in the vicinity of the LeMoyne Community Center.
