After November: Slaying the Gerrymander in PA in 2021

For nearly three years, Draw the Lines has barnstormed the state, educating and engaging Pennsylvanians in a wonky civic task called redistricting. PUMP is a member of DTL’s Western PA Steering Committee.

As Pennsylvanians learned about how the political pros cheat to protect their own interests, over 6,000 students and voters tried their hand at drawing PA’s voting districts. 1,200+ fully completed maps later, the results are clear: Pennsylvanians are ready to take on this core task of democracy themselves.

DTL’s mapping competitions were merely practice for the real deal, which begins in 2021 when PA draws its congressional and legislative voting district lines for the next decade. Everything we’ve done has been with this moment in mind. We want you to help us get started.

Join us on September 30th at 5:30 PM for a virtual launch of the final round of Draw the Lines activities. DTL will introduce the newly formed Citizen Map Corps, an elite group of top DTL mappers who will be faces of the citizen push for fairness and transparency in 2021. We’ll preview the digital platform available to the public for you to draw your own maps. Our friends at Fair Districts PA will provide an update on legislative strategy to codify fairness and transparency in state law. And finally, we’ll premier a new short documentary about Draw the Lines.
