BikePGH Business Network Meetup: Transportation & Affordable Development

June 23, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

We’re all in the business of building a better Pittsburgh so let’s get down to it: Affordable transportation and affordable development are cornerstones of an equitable city. These cornerstones are shaped by countless forces – legislation, funding, demand, planning, special initiatives, the list goes on. Right now in Pittsburgh we’re seeing some exciting things happen on many of these fronts: the City is in the running for $50 million to implement smart transportation; Mayor Peduto’s Affordable Housing Task Force just issued a list of much-awaited recommendations; The Department of City Planning is putting the final touches on a Complete Streets Policy that will guide future development.

Pittsburgh is onto something big, but how are these pieces working in concert to provide a foundation on which to build a better Pittsburgh? BikePGH is bringing together some of the people behind the initiatives to discuss their goals, synergies and contribution to a more walkable, bikeable, affordable Pittsburgh.

Matt Barron from the Heinz Endowments and Daniel Barrett from the Mayor’s Office will share about the Smart City Application and how it encourages Pittsburgh’s affordability for all. Linda Metropolis, CEO of ActionHousing and member of the Affordable Housing Task Force, will discuss how affordable housing is created and protected in walkable/bikeable communities. And Corey Layman from the Department of City Planning will present about how zoning regulations provide the necessary structure that ensures equitable neighborhoods and shapes complete streets.

BikePGH invites you and your colleagues to join us for their presentations at DeepLocal’s Strip District office. Click here to register today!
