Johnson Institute 2018 Exemplary Leadership Award – Paul O’Neill

The Johnson Institute 2018 Exemplary Leadership Award will honor Paul O’Neill, the founder of Value Capture and the former chairman and CEO of Alcoa, on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:30 PM-6 PM at the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Hall, 7th Floor Auditorium.

Paul O’Neill counsels and supports healthcare executives and policymakers who share his conviction that the value of healthcare operations can be greatly increased through the pursuit of perfect safety and clinical outcomes. He has helped shaped many policies that define the American healthcare system today.

Mr. O’Neill served as the 72nd Secretary of the U.S. Treasury from 2001 to 2002. During his tenure, the lost workday rate among Treasury employees fell by more than 50%. He was the chairman and CEO of Alcoa from 1987 to 1999, leading Alcoa to become the safest workplace in the world, while increasing its market capitalization by more than 800%. Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr. O’Neill was president of International Paper Company and Deputy Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.

The Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership is part of GSPIA, the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.
