Volunteers Needed: Open Streets PGH

June 26, 2016 @ 8:00 am

BikePGH is once again hosting Open Streets PGH and PUMP will be helping to make this fun day even more fun and safe! This family-friendly celebration creates a 3.5 mile route to walk, dance, run, and play in the streets from Downtown to Lawrenceville. And we need your help to keep things safe and fun! While the OpenStreetsPGH route will be closed to auto traffic, there will be several intersections where cars are allowed to cross.

Police will do the heavy lifting making sure that cars obey the rules.

Intersection volunteers ensure that people biking, walking, and enjoying the freedom of Open Streets stop safely when cars are crossing the intersection. Volunteers will meet PUMP staff at our assigned intersection in downtown Pittsburgh promptly in time for the following shifts:

8:00AM – 11:00AM

or

10:45AM – 1:30PM

Benefits: Volunteers will receive

  • A Volunteer Shirt
  • Water and Snacks
  • Fun with PUMP staff and volunteers

 Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that pedestrians stop safely at intersections
  • Keep OpenStreetsPGH safe for participants
  • Give out free high fives and encourage safe fun in other creative ways

It’s a really fun time!  Register yourself and your friends today to reserve your space!
