On August 11, 2018 PUMP will once again host Kickball for a Cause at Mellon Park and bring together over 600 young people to raise funds for local nonprofits!
Since 2002, we have raised more than $110,000 and involved close to 9,000 community members in a day filled with activities, fun for all, and of course, kickball! Last year, Kickball for a Cause raised over $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and Allegheny Cleanways.
This year to decide who the Causes would be we first held an open nomination process and received 39 nominations for awesome nonprofit “Causes” that we considered as possible beneficiaries for the event. We then narrowed the nominations down to 8 finalists and asked for our PUMP members to vote on who the winners would be! The 8 finalists were Beverly’s Birthdays, Center of Life, Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, HEARTH, North Side Christian Health Center, The Will Allen Foundation, The Women and Girls Foundation, and The Young Men & Women’s African Heritage Association.
And the 2018 Kickball for a Cause Winners are…
HEARTH works to provide a range of supportive services and housing that empowers homeless families, who are survivors of domestic violence or other trauma to become independent, self-sufficient, and adequately housed; to foster low income housing opportunities to prevent homelessness and encourage safe, affordable housing. Our vision is for every family and individual to live in safe, affordable housing.
The Women and Girls Foundation (WGF) is a non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh, PA engaged in statewide programming and policy work. The mission of WGF is to achieve equality for women and girls, now and for generations to come.
