BRT Victory Celebration and the Riders’ Vision for Better Transit!

June 25, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Pittsburghers for Public Transit, Just Harvest, and Mon Valley Initiative for A Celebration of the BRT Victory and the release of The Riders’ Vision for Better Transit. Free and open to the public! Register by June 21st!

Over the last year, Mon Valley riders stood together to insist on equity and access to their critical 61 and 59 buses. This amazing campaign and the bus drivers, riders, and community organizations who made it happen deserve to be recognized.

This event will celebrate that the Port Authority and regional elected leadership listened to the needs of our most vulnerable communities by preserving the 61A, B, and C bus lines and restoring the 59 bus, and ensured that these bus riders would not see any additional barriers to their connections to life.

But these are only the first steps towards a vibrant, growing transit system that provides for better economic development, more equity for our most marginalized communities, and improves pressing climate and air quality challenges.

At this event, Pittsburghers for Public Transit and Mon Valley Initiative will announce and lay out the Four Planks of The Riders’ Vision and ask community leaders to join in taking next steps for ambitious, proven, and achievable measures to grow transit ridership in Allegheny County.

There will be light food and refreshments. The space has a wheelchair accessible ramp, and childcare, transportation, and deaf interpretation services will be available upon request.

Learn more and register here by Thursday, June 21st.
