Do you remember Shrinky Dinks? In this two hour session, participants will be reunited with the shrinky dinks of their childhood (or introduced to them if you’re totally new to shrink plastic) and will be shown the process of making designs and turning them into jewelry, magnets, pins, and more, as well as tips for making them look better than what we all made as kids. If time allows, we may also explore painting wooden jewelry using washi tape to block off areas of the wood.

About the Guest Maker:

Trisha Powell is an ESL teacher and immigrant and refugee inclusion advocate who loves to make jewelry and all sorts of crafts on the side! She has an Etsy shop called Lines and Shapes Jewelry Shop where she sells her jewelry made out of shrink plastic. She also sells at local craft markets and enjoys doing jewelry workshops with both kids and adults. She finds drawing jewelry to be a unique, satisfying, and even therapeutic activity, kind of like doing adult coloring books, but then you get to wear what you colored!

We meet every month on a Saturday from 7-9pm. All materials are provided. You do not need prior experience to participate. The goal of this workshop series is to open the making process to people who want to learn a new skill in a community setting. Our goal is to engage as a community to learn, support, and connect with other creatives. Workshop Series reaches out to the community to bring creatives together who may not have access to these materials, space, community, and time.

We encourage participants to bring their own snacks and drinks.
