Mark Whitaker – Pittsburgh Lectures

Mark Whitaker, author of The Untold Story of Smoketown: The Other Great Black Renaissance will be speaking at the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall on February 21 at 7 PM. Smoketown is described as “a captivating portrait of Pittsburgh’s renaissance of black culture, influence, and glamour from the 1920s through the 1950s.”

The lecture is hosted by Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures with partner Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and promotional partners Aurora Reading Club, United Black Book Clubs of Pittsburgh, and African Heritage Classroom Committee.
