Social Justice Innovation Weekend 2018

Repair the World Pittsburgh is hosting the second annual Social Justice Innovation Weekend over the President’s Day Weekend, February 16-19. At the beginning of the weekend, anyone can pitch an idea for making Pittsburgh a more equitable, inclusive community and will work for 2 days developing a produce and pitch with mentors from various backgrounds. The weekend will culminate in the Social Justice Innovation Weekend Showcase where teams will compete for prizes.
If you are interested in pitching an idea and being part of a team, you are expected to attend all four days. However, the Kickoff Dinner on Friday, Feb. 16 will take place at the Repair the World Workshop and is open to all who are interested in attending. The dinner will include discussion about social justice issues in Pittsburgh and will provide an opportunity for attendees to explore opportunities for collaboration in their work. The final presentations are also open to all who are interested in attending.

Schedule:
Friday – 6 PM-9 PM – Kickoff Dinner with Keynote Speaker Majestic Lane (the City of Pittsburgh’s Deputy Chief of Neighborhood Empowerment) Idea Pitches, and Team Formation
Saturday – 8 AM-9 PM – Full day of work
Sunday – 8 AM-9 PM – Full day of work; 9 AM-11 AM – volunteer opportunity for the Jewish Relief Agency
Monday – 7 PM-9 PM – Final Presentations
