Each month we are going to take the time to get to know one of our PSL officials better. This is a great way to know the person who dedicates their free time to umpiring or refereeing your games.

Our October PSL Official of the Month is Dick! Get to know Dick better and be sure to say hi to him at your next PSL game.

How long have you been officiating with the PSL? Started full time in July of 2011.

Which sport(s) do you officiate? Mainly Kickball but I have also officiated softball.

What is your favorite PSL officiating memory? There isn’t one particular memory that I have. Every night I officiate is an opportunity for me to have fun and watch others have fun.

What do you do for a living? I currently deliver for Meals on Wheels on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. I am also a retired delivery driver for Thomas’ English Muffins.

Why did you decide to officiate with the PSL? I started as an emergency fill in for an official that I used to umpire fast pitch softball with. I enjoyed it so much that I asked to be put on the schedule full time.

Anything you’d like to share about yourself with the PSL community?  I would like all the PSL-ers to know that I truly do enjoy umpiring their games – every single one of them.

P.S. Many PSL-ers call him Rich but we asked him and he prefers to go by Dick.
