Seeking Regional Workforce Development Feedback

Lindsay Cashman Advocacy, Opportunities for Success

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires local workforce development boards and chief elected officials to engage in an integrated regional and local workforce planning process to create a regional plan for workforce development in that region. These plans serve as a four-year action plans for service delivery.

Our local commission, the Southwest Planning Region, is a nine-county workforce development planning region for the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Washington, Butler, Armstrong, Indiana, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

The Southwest Planning Region has posted its WIOA Multi-Year Regional and Local Plans for a 30-day public comment period from July 25 – August 24, 2017.

Join Partner4Work staff and collaborative partners for a community forum on August 16th from 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM at Centre City Tower to discuss the future of integrated workforce development plans involving local boards, elected officials, and community stakeholders presented by The Southwest Planning Region.

This forum is one part of the thirty days of open public comment period to provide feedback on specific plans and their framework on implementation into the community. Read more about the Multi-Year Regional and Local Workforce Development Plans and register for the event. After the forum, Partner4Work will continue to accept comments on these planning documents via email to planning@swparegion.org through August 24.
