In recognition of the important work that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh does, City Councilwoman Deb Gross proposed a proclamation on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 to name that day “Big Brother Big Sister Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. In that proclamation, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ work with community members and organizations was recognized, including their work with PUMP.

County Councilman Tom Baker, Chief Community Affairs Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), invited PUMP and other BBBS partners to attend Tuesday’s city council meeting. Greg Mitrik (PSL Director) and Lindsay Cashman (Advocacy + Public Policy Director) spoke briefly about PUMP’s partnership with BBBS at the meeting.

PUMP members voted to select Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh to be one of our charities for the 2017 Kickball for a Cause event, along with Allegheny Cleanways, through our first-ever community selection process. We raised $5,000 for each organization through the Kickball for a Cause tournament.

BBBS recognized us as their Community Partner of the Year at their Bowl for Kids’ Sake Kickoff Featuring the 8th Annual Celebrate Coalitions Event on January 9, 2018. PUMP CEO Brian Magee and PSL Program Development Manager Jaime Filipek attended on behalf of PUMP.
